Identification: Upon close inspection, gopher mounds are typically horseshoe-shaped, whereas mole mounds are conical.  Moles may also form meandering raised ridges above their tunnels–crackled in appearance and about four inches wide. Ground squirrels’ softball-sized entrances remain open.
